Box Score BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team finished 2-1 over the weekend in the 3
rd Annual Baltimore City Legends Classic that was held in the P.E. Center.
On Friday, November 13
th in the P.E. Center the Panthers defeated the Sharks 79-72.
The win was a true team effort as the players played as a unit in their second back-to-back game of the young season.
The first three minutes of the game was scoreless as both teams struggled from the field. Freshman guard
Fredrell Jenkins (New Orleans, La/JS Clark HS) ended the scoring drought with a three-pointer.
The Panthers (3-2) took their largest lead of the first half (14), with 8:14 after
Mekhi Bryant (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury HS) scored his only two points of the half from the charity stripe.
The Panthers held the Sharks to 41.7 percent shooting from the field and forced 13 turnovers to take a 42-34 lead going into the break.
The second half was a defensive battle with both teams struggling to find offense and the deficit was too much for Miami-Dade (2-1) to overcome.
For the Sharks, Marvin Jean-Pierre lead all scorers with 28 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Joe Mvuezolo Jr. followed behind with 20 points and eight rebounds.
Chad Andrews-Fulton (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) posted another double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds and fellow high school teammate
Haneef Vaughn-Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) had a team-high 16 points alongside six boards and four assists.
Sophomore guards
Khyree Hunt Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington HS) and
Tre' Thomas (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist HS) scored 13 and 12 points respectively.
Ryan Trafton (Baltimore, Md./Heritage HS) ended with seven points and seven rebounds.
On Wednesday November, 18
th the Panthers will host the Cougars of Frederick Community College in the P.E. Center for Youth Day at 4 p.m.
General admission will be $5, $2 for BCPS and free admission for BCCC faculty, staff and students with valid I.D.
