Panthers Wear Down the Riverhawks for Fourth Consecutive Win 70-56

SEVERN, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team was successful in their first conference road game of the season against Anne Arundel Community College on Saturday afternoon with a 70-56 win. BCCC has now won four straight games and are 6-2, 2-0 in the MD JUCO.

Once again the Panthers offensive woes resurfaced only shooting 7-of-22 for 31.8 percent from the field and only grabbed 10 rebounds in the first half.

Saturday was the first time the Panthers trailed at the half as they went into the break, down 10 36-26.

In the second half the Panthers returned to their aggressive style of play defensively and turned up the heat on the River Hawks (0-7, 0-2 MD JUCO). The Panthers forced 15 turnovers and held the Riverhawks to 29.6 percent shooting.

BCCC in the second half shot 56 percent (14-of-25) from the field and shot 66.7 percent (6-of-9) from behind the arc. BCCC outscored Anne Arundel 44-20 in the second half.

Anne Arundel was led by Larry Stevenson who scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half and Jemeul Brown had 15 points and 12 rebounds.

For the Panthers, Tre' Thomas (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist HS) finished the game with 18 points and six rebounds and fellow sophomore guard Khyree Hunt-Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington HS) scored 11 points off the bench.
 
Mekhi Bryant (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury HS) and Fredrell Jenkins (New Orleans, La/JS Clark HS) both finished the game with 10 points apiece.
 
The Panthers will host CCBC-Dundalk on Tuesday night, November 24th in the P.E. Center at 7 p.m.

General admission will be $5, $2 for BCPS and free admission for BCCC faculty, staff and students with valid I.D.
