Panthers Winning Streak goes to five with 79-76 win over Lions

BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team pulled out another close victory on Tuesday night in the P.E. Center against CCBC-Dundalk 79-76.

BCCC has now won five straight games and are 7-2, 3-0 in the MD JUCO.

The Panthers finally broke out of their first half shooting debacle and made 14 field goals and scored 37 points. The Panthers had 11 assists and outrebounded the Cardinals 24-16.

The Panthers led at the break 37-33.

In the second half the Panthers were able to hold off the Lions and broke the two game losing streak against the Lions.

The Panthers only trailed at the 15:07 mark of the first half by one (10-9) and never trailed again in the game. The Panthers used a 9-0 run to take 18-10 lead with 12:34 in the opening half.

BCCC lead by as many as 10 points in the second half and only committed five turnovers in the last final 20 minutes. Sophomore guards, Tre' Thomas (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist HS) and Khyree Hunt-Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington HS) helped keep the Panthers undefeated conference record intact.

BCCC went 15-of-23 from the free-throw line in the second half.

For the Lions, Miquante Greene finished with 28 points and Anthony Bennett Jr. ended the game with 21 points and seven rebounds. Mike White had a game-high 11 assists and eight points.

For the Panthers, Kelvin Howard (Temple Hills, Md./Dematha HS) had a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with seven points and six assists. Chad Andrews-Fulton (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) finished the game with 10 boards and eight rebounds.
 
Thomas and Hunt-Hawkins ended the game with 21 and 13 points respectively.
 
The Panthers will be on the road to La Plata, Md. for a 7 p.m. game against College of Southern Maryland on Monday night, November 30th.
