Panthers Keep Winning and Extend Steak to Six

LA PLATA, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team defeated College of Southern Maryland on Monday night 90-73 to stay atop the MD JUCO.

BCCC is currently on a six-game winning streak and are a perfect 4-0 in conference play.

The Panthers shot 42 percent (16-of-38) from the field and 45 percent (5-of-11) from behind the three-point line.

The Panthers looked to be clicking on all cylinders as they took an 18 point lead going into halftime 44-26. The Panthers outrebounded the Hawks 27-12 and held them to 34.8 percent (8-of-23) from the field.

In the second half the Panthers and Hawks were in a shootout as both teams scored over 40 points in the half 46 and 47 respectively.

The Panthers shot 48.5 percent (33-of-68) and 50 percent (9-of-18) from long range.

The Hawks were led by Devin Allen with 16 points and five rebounds and Pierre Mitchell 16 points. Phillip Wheeler scored 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting all from behind the arc.
Donovan Robinson ended the game with 10 assists and seven points.

For the Panthers, Mekhi Bryant (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury HS) led all players with a game-high 17 points and a team-high seven assists.
 
Chad Andrews-Fulton (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) got back on track with a 14 points and 10 rebounds performance and Ryan Trafton (Baltimore, Md./Heritage HS) came off the bench to score 14 points and grab nine rebounds.
 
Tre' Thomas (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist HS) scored 11 points and Haneef Vaughn-Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) finished with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
 
The Panthers will host the Ben Williams Classic in the P.E. Center that will start on December 12th and 13th.
 
General admission will be $8, $2 for BCPS and free admission for BCCC faculty, staff and students with valid I.D.
