Panthers Stay Atop MD JUCO with win against Catonsville

Chad Andrews-Fulton has recorded his ninth double-double of the year and is currently averaging 11.5 points and 10.5 rebounds for the season.

BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team is still perfect in conference play after beating CCBC-Catonsville 78-62 on Saturday afternoon in the P.E. Center.
BCCC moves to 11-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
 
BCCC fell behind early in the game 6-0 until sophomore guard Khyree Hunt-Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington HS) scored on a lay-up to get the team rolling.
 
The Panthers fought back to tie the game at eight apiece and again at 14 all before trailing for the last time of the half and the game.
 
After the Cardinals split a pair of free-throws and knocked down a jumper they took a 17-14 lead with 7:58 left in the opening half.
 
The Panthers got a big boost from freshman Fredrell Jenkins (New Orleans, La./JS Clark) who scored the next 12 of the teams 16 points.
 
The Panthers went on to outscore the Cardinals 27-9 for the rest of the first half.
 
Jenkins finished the first half with 15 points shooting 6-of-8 from the field going 2-of-3 from behind the three-point arc.
 
BCCC took a commanding 41-26 lead into intermission.
 
In the second half the Panthers would increase their lead to 27 (60-33), with 15:14 left to play. Sophomore guard Tre' Thomas (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist HS) picked up the scoring load leading the team with 12 points in the second stanza shooting 4-of-6 from the field.
 
The Cardinals had three players in double-figures with Montague Wright leading the way with a game-high 23 points along with eight rebounds, Asante Galloway with 14 points and eight rebounds and Douglas Farley with 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
 
For the Panthers, Jenkins finished with 17 points and seven boards and Thomas ended the game with 17 points.
 
Chad Andrews-Fulton (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) hauled in a game-high and season-high 18 rebounds while scoring 12 points. Mekhi Bryant (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury HS) chipped in with 10 points with eight of them coming in the second half.
 
BCCC will head out west to Phoenix, Az. to participate in the Fiesta Bowl Shootout. Their first game will be on Saturday, December 28th at 2 p.m. against #24 Salt Lake Community College. The other two games will be played on the Tuesday and Wednesday, December 29th and 30th.
