DOVER, DEL. – The Baltimore City Community College volleyball team captured their first win of the season Thursday night against Delaware Tech Community College 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 25-22, 13-25, 15-13).

BCCC were pushed to five sets as they were able to hold off a late rally against the Lady Hawks before they came out victorious. The team came out with great energy and which was sparked by Alexis Wade (Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh HS) who gave amazing effort on the court.

Late in the first set as the Lady Hawks were chipping away at the lead, Amani Parks (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) was placed in the game with the score 24-23 and she ended the set with an ace to give the Lady Panthers an early 1-0 lead in the match.   

The Lady Panthers, were led by Charlida Basarath (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney HS) with a team-high eight kills to go alongside eight digs and one block solo. Basarath was very effective in the deciding set which spearheaded the early lead for the Lady Panthers.

Courtney Crawford (Lanham, Md./Archbishop Carroll HS) finished the match with six kills, one block solo and one block assist.

Jasmine Alston (Baltimore, Md./Mervo HS) led the team with 11 assists while adding two aces in the match and Alyn Sankar (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood HS) chipped in with five assists of her own. Alston who is a good server, started off the fifth set and the team scored the first five points on her serve.   

LaShay Stackhouse (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) and Roxanne Dorsey (Baltimore, Md./Poly HS) had three aces apiece. Dorsey also contributed with a team-high 10 digs.
Wade ended the match with three aces, two digs and one block assist.

The Lady Panthers travel to Columbia, Md. as participants in the Howard Invitational hosted by Howard Community College on Saturday and Sunday, September 5^th and 6^th. Start time will be at 11 a.m. on both days.
