Lady Panthers are Winless in Dragon Invitational; Jasmine Alston Named to the All-Tournament Team

COLUMBIA, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College volleyball team went 0-4 in the Dragon Invitational over the weekend, but on a high note Jasmine Alston (Baltimore, Md./Mervo HS) was named to the Dragon Invitational All-Tournament Team. BCCC record currently stands at 1-6 for the season.

On Saturday, BCCC was defeated by Nassau Community College in their first matchup of the day 0-2 (12-25, 22-25) and by Brookdale Community College 0-2 (17-25, 21-25) in their second match of the day.

On Sunday, the Lady Panthers jumped out to a great start winning the first set of their first match against the Lady Owls of Harford Community College before losing the next two games and consequently the match 1-2 (25-20, 7-25, 7-15). In the final match of the tournament the Lady Panthers fell to the Lady Knights of CCBC-Essex 1-2 (26-24, 16-25, 10-15).

Charlida Basarath (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney HS) had 14 digs and a team-high 13 kills to go alongside four aces.  

Destiny Harris (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson HS) and Alyn Sankar (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood HS) had eight and seven kills respectively. Sankar also added 10 digs, four aces, two blocks and one block assist.

Nichkole Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Mervo HS) ended the weekend with five kills and three solo blocks and Roxanne Dorsey (Baltimore, Md./Poly HS) finished with a team-high 38 digs, five assists and four kills.

Amber Sims (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) had two kills, two digs and one block solo and Amani Parks (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor HS) recorded two aces, one dig and one kill.

Alston concluded the weekend with 33 assists, 13 digs, five kills, three aces, one solo block and one block assist.

The Lady Panthers will host Hagerstown Community College on Thursday night, September 10th at 6 p.m. in the P.E. Center.
