Box Score NORTH EAST, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team fell to the hands of Cecil College 74-59 on Wednesday night in the Physical Education Complex.
The Panthers dug themselves a huge hole in the first half with poor shooting from the floor 8-of-25 (32 percent) and from the free-throw line 7-of-16 (43.8 percent).
The Panthers had 13 turnovers in the first 20:00 of play and fell behind 38-26 going into the break.
In the second half the Panthers put together a huge run to cut the deficit of the Seahawks. The Panthers cut the lead down to five points on two separate occasions to open up the half before the 14:00 mark, but each time the Panthers could not get over the hump.
BCCC kept chipping away and seemed to gain momentum as
Haneef Vaughn-Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) lead a fast break a dropped a pass off to
Fredrell Jenkins (New Orleans, La/JS Clark HS) who finished with an emphatic dunk and drew a foul one of the Seahawks defender.
The free-throw was missed by Jenkins and the lead was cut to four 53-49 with 6:52 left.
The Panthers fought all the way back to tie the game at 59 apiece with 3:45 remaining. The Panthers would not score again for the rest of the game.
The Seahawks were led by Dajour Diggs with 27 points and 14 rebounds, Demetrich Williams had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Keon Booth who chipped in with 11 points.
For BCCC,
Chad Andrews-Fulton (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) finished with a team-high 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Ryan Trafton (Baltimore, Md./Heritage HS) ended the game with 10 points and six rebounds and Jenkins had 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Panthers will be traveling to Bryn Mawr, Pa. on Monday, January 25
th to take on the Bears of Harcum College for a 7 p.m. tip off.
