Box Score MCHENRY, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team loss in the semifinal game to Montgomery College on Friday night 63-61.
The Panthers led by eight (29-21), with 7:00 in the first half on a three-pointer by
Tre' Thomas (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist HS) who scored 15 of his 27 points in the first half.
The Panthers went into the half with a 38-33 lead.
In the first half BCCC scored 10 points off of six Montgomery turnovers and had 11 second chance points.
In the second half the Panthers offensive woes struck again from the field and from the free-throw line. The Panthers shot 9-of-29 (31.0 percent) from the field and 3-of-11 (27.3 percent) from the charity stripe.
The tables turned on BCCC as they got outscored 16-6 in the paint and 9-2 on second chance points by Montgomery.
Even with the cards stacked against the Panthers, they kept fighting to win the game. Thomas made two big shots connecting from long-range on both attempts. The last basket gave the Panthers a five point lead (61-56) with just over 3:00 to play in the game.
However, the Panthers would not score for the remainder of the game and would finish on the wrong end of a 7-0 run.
The Raptors were D'Angelo Vaughn with 17 points and followed by Devon Pestano with 15 points. Patrick Smith finished with a game-high 15 rebounds.
Fredrell Jenkins (New Orleans, La/JS Clark HS) who finished with an emphatic dunk and drew a foul one of the Seahawks defender.
For BCCC,
Chad Andrews-Fulton (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution HS) finished with 11 points and seven boards and
Ryan Trafton (Baltimore, Md./Heritage HS) ended the game with a season-high 12 rebounds.
Fredrell Jenkins (New Orleans, La/JS Clark HS) scored 11 and hauled in six rebounds. Thomas had a remarkable shooting night going 11-of-18 from the field and 5-of-9 from behind the arc.
Thomas was named to the MD JUCO All-Conference Second Team. Andrews-Fulton and Jenkins were named as Honorable Mentions.
The Panthers will host their last home game of the season on Saturday, February 20
th against Northern Virginia Community College in the P.E. Center at 2 p.m.
Also, the Panthers will be recognizing their sophomores for Sophomore Night prior to the start of the game.
General admission will be $5, $2 for BCPS and free admission for BCCC faculty, staff and students with valid I.D.
