Box Score The Panthers lost to Allegany College today 95-97. The Panthers fought hard and showed tenacity throughout the game but came up short in the last minute. The Trojans of Allegany started the game making shots early and raced to a lead that was at times in double figures in the first half. The Panthers couldn't establish a rhythm and looked out of sink. What they did do well however is defend on both ends of the court. The Trojans had the height advantage but the Panthers contested enough missed shots to give themselves second chances. Those second chances and a few turnovers by Allegany gave the Panthers an opening to get back into the game and draw to within 2 points at half-time. The second half again saw Allegany start off well. They had an 11 point lead half way through the second half and looked to be in control of the game. The Panthers however made a charge with key baskets by Jo Nathan Kelly and
Carson Smith who finished with 17 and 15 points respectively. The got back into the game and for the first time since the whistle blew to start the game, the contest was tied at 88.
Wendall Tomlin make a couple of long threes to add to his team leading 20 points on the night and the Panthers looked like they were going to pull off the win. Unfortunate miscues on the offensive side in the last minute gave Allegany an opening and their best player Tekao Carpenter sunk a jumper to give them a two point lead with 4.3 seconds left on the clock. The Panthers had one last shot to tie or win the game but a flying layup by number 0
David Harris who put up 15 points, his highest number for the season, was blocked and the game was over. The loss moves the teams overall record to 3 wins and 3 loses.
