Box Score The Panthers faced Harcum College from Pennsylvania. They are ranked nationally and they demonstrated why. They dominated the boards with their height and athletic ability and kept the Panthers off balance most of the night in their 97-75 victory. The Panthers tried to keep up in the first half, but fell behind by as many as 22 points. The effort was lead by Sophomore, Carson Smith who scored 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting which included three 3 pointers. He was joined by Freshmen Jo Nathan Kelly who powered in 14 points that included going 7 for 7 at the free throw line. Another standout performance came from Freshmen
David Jones. He came into the game in the second half and got the Panthers on a roll. He hit four three pointers and helped spark a run that got the team to within 15 points with 5 minutes left in the game. Another newcomer who got a chance to mix it up with a nationally ranked forecourt was Freshmen from New York, New York,
Darryl Robertson. He came into the game and showed that he knew how to bang with the 6-10 center from Harcum, who was swatting away layups from Panthers most of the first half. He scored five points, but made a difference for the team by giving them second chances with his rebounding ability.
The team is now 3-4 on the season and in spite of the last three games ending in loses, they are literally getting better each game. The teams assists are going up and their turnovers are going down. Both statistics are a sign of a team that is starting to jell and understand each others tendencies. All but two of the regular starters are freshmen and they are learning the difference between high-school and college level basketball and growing each game they play. The season is still young for the Panthers and there is room and potential from growth.
The Panthers are back in action Wednesday December 7, at the PE Center. The game starts at 7:00 pm.
