Box Score
The first half of today's game was a bit slower than coach Thelanious Prioleau would have liked. He was looking for more of an effort from the Panthers to begin the game. Both teams started out slowly. There were a number of turnovers and neither team could establish a rhythm. The Lions of CCBC Dundalk brought every tool that they could bring in order to disrupt the game plan of the Panthers. They were successful in holding the Panthers to under 40% shooting in the first half. Although the game started slowly for BCCC, they would improve towards the end of the first half, taking an eight point lead into half time. Sophomore Guard David Harris was in charge of directing gameplay for the Panthers all evening. In today's game he would showcase his leadership. Harris would lead all scorers totaling 21 points, and 6 assists for BCCC. The Panthers led 40-31 after the first half.
The defensive battle continued into the second half, as CCBC Dundalk with their relentless energy refused to quit on both ends of the court. Games like today, are usually won by the team who gives the most effort on both ends of the court, and that couldn't have been more of an emphasis for BCCC Sophomore Guard Carson Smith. The Guard would finish the game with a double-double. He posted 12 rebounds to go along with 17 points, second only in rebounds to the man in the middle, Albright Obode who would finish with a game high 13 rebounds. Obode and Smith would also combine for a total of 10 offensive rebounds; more than half of the total 18 the Panthers put together as a unit.
Based on the reaction from the attendees behind the home bench, fan favorite Freshman Guard Jamal Lee would chip in with 6 points, and 4 rebounds; however his defense would be his biggest contribution throughout the game. In addition to Lee, Freshman Wendall Tomlin, continued playing the role of all-around utility player. He put up 12 points and 8 rebounds. The BCCC Panthers will travel to Prince Georges Community College on February 8th. The game starts at 5:00 pm.
