Panthers Fall to Owls of Prince Georges CC

Box Score Execution was the main goal Coach Thelanious Prioleau preached to his Panthers squad in pregame, before their highly anticipated battle against the #7 ranked Prince George's CC Owls. The squad would respond accordingly in the first half. The Panthers went toe-to toe with the nationally ranked Owls in the first 20 minutes, and their efforts earned them a lead heading into halftime 41-40. Wendall Tomlin was the star for BCCC, as the first half of today's game was as stellar as we have seen him perform this season. Tomlin finished the first half shooting 5-7 from the field, while also stuffing the stat sheet with 6 rebounds.  With amazing effort on both sides of the ball, the Owls would keep the game close headed into halftime. BCCC played aggressive basketball throughout the entire game, and at times this effort would be a double-edged sword, as multiple Panthers would end up in foul trouble. Albright Obode was a key component to the early success of the Panthers, recording 5 first half offensive rebounds. His minutes would be shortened when he picked up his 4th foul late in the first half. In addition to not having Obode available late in the game, the lack of depth on the Panthers squad became a problem. The Owls of PG CC took advantage and went on a run that saw the Panthers down by as many as 9 points. They however fought back and were down by 4 points with three minutes left in the game, when an injury to Freshman Jamal Lee required the game to be stopped as he was attended to by medical staff. The momentum the Panthers had built, left when their teammate was lost for the game.

When the game resumed the Owls took advantage of the Panthers with foul trouble. They kept attacking and getting to the line, where they would make their free throws. Unfortunately, the Panthers were deflated and did not score another basket. The final score 86-72.
Wendall Tomlin and David Harris would share the team high in scoring, both notching 18 points. Tomlin would earn his third double-double of the season, finishing with a game high 14 rebounds.
The Panthers will host the Cougars from Frederick Community College on Saturday at 3PM.
