FREDERICK, MD - The Baltimore City Panthers faced another tough road test as they ultimately fell to the Frederick Cougars by the score of 99-37. The Panthers fall to 9-10 on the season and 5-6 in Maryland Juco play.
Â
The first half saw two physical teams trade shots back and forth as they appeared to be evenly matched. Frederick was able to start pulling away, but a huge stretch by Zach Smith where he scored eight consecutive points for the Panthers brought them back to within two. Frederick responded with a 6-0 run to end the first half and take a 42-34 lead into halftime.Â

The second half was a different story as the Cougars powerful offensive might came on display as the home team was able to pull away late. Carlos Green, playing in his second game after coming back from an injury, scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half including two from long range as the lone bench scorer in the final 20 minutes.
Â
Smith led the Panthers in points once again with 24 points including a 9-10 performance from the free throw line. Marquise Delahaye scored 19 points combined with a team high 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Blake Neverdon scored 9 points while Antonion Fliggins and Joshua Bryant scored 5 and 4 respectively.Â

The Panthers will continue their arduous streak of road games as they go to CCBC Dundalk on Saturday, February 3 at 12 PM. The Panthers have won the last three straight games over the Lions with the last of which being a dramatic 68-65 win on February 4, 2023.
