Baltimore, MD - The Baltimore City Panthers dominated the first half on their way to a critical win against their divisional rivals from Harford Community College by the score of 82-76.
The first half was a clinic in defensive efficiency for the Panthers, holding the powerful Harford side to just 15 first half points. Forcing turnovers, strong rebounding, and an effective full court press all led to the huge lead for Baltimore City early on.
Harford was able to make a run late in the second half as the game became much more open and free flowing in the final 20 minutes. That momentum was frequently slowed by important baskets by the Panther forwards as the top three scorers for Baltimore City were all in the front court.
Albatrit Syla led the way for the Panthers with 18 points off the bench, a career high for the freshman forward.
Isaiah Reed scored 12 points while
Kuich Gatwech added 10. The starting guards for the Panthers also contributed with big baskets
Bryson Spruell scored 8 including a couple of long range three pointers while
Marquise Delahaye chipped in 6.
Thomas Duach took advantage of some important minutes, scoring 9 points.
The Panthers will look to avenge an early season loss as they next host the Howard Dragons on Friday, December 20 at 7 PM. Baltimore City lost at Howard 70-54 in the season opener back on November 1.
