Rachel E. Naughton comes to BCCC with over 15 years of coaching experience. Her first college coaching experience was with her alma-mater St. Paul’s College as an Assistant Coach. After two years at SPC, she spent 10 years coaching several different High Schools and enjoyed volunteering for the Amateur athletic union.
From 2012-2014, Naughton lead the varsity girls’ basketball squad at Smyrna High School to win the Conference and Division Title for two consecutive seasons and made two trips to the Delaware Intercollegiate Athletic Association playoffs. For her work, she was honored with the Community leader award in 2014.
Naughton coached the boy’s junior varsity basketball team in 2015 and assisted the head coach at Hodgson Vocational Technical High School. In 2016, Naughton coached an American Basketball Association (ABA) professional men’s team into the second round of their post season basketball tournament and was selected to coach the Georgia Gwizzlies Men’s Professional ABA Team in China.
Naughton, a native of Queens, NY, graduated from Murry Bergtraum High School in 1993. From High-school she entered the Borough of Manhattan Community College, where she played small forward for the Lady Panthers’ basketball program for a season. She later received a Basketball Scholarship to St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 2001, with a concentration in Law and Political Science. Coach Naughton continued her education and earned her master’s degree in Sports Management from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003.
Prior to beginning her coaching career in 2001, Naughton organized and professionally promoted Men’s Professional tournaments throughout the City of New York.
Naughton, maintains an uncompromised passion for basketball and seeing her players achieve greatness. Her coaching tenure has provide memorable moments on and off the basketball court. She continues to strive for success by creating effective and lasting relationships among players, staff, and academic institutions.
