Shawnkia McCallum is a native Baltimore talent. A graduate of Bowie State University with a B.S. in Sports Management (concentration in Broadcast Journalism), Shawnkia has played basketball at every level. She a skilled point guard with a strong background in both playing and coaching basketball. Coach McCallum made a name for herself while attending Perry Hall High School, where she was the assist leader and a McDonald's All American nominee. She then took her talents to perennial powerhouse St. Frances Academy. Coach McCallum led the team to a conference championship in her senior year. The NCAA was next on her journey. She was awarded an athletic scholarship to attend Division I U. Massachusetts Lowell. She later transferred to Harford Community College where she emerged as the assist leader. She guided the team to a 27-3 record winning regional and district championships, along with a spot in the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament. Upon graduation, she returned to the the NCAA at DII member Bowie State University. Shawnkia was instrumental in the team earning consecutive NCAA Division II CIAA Tournament appearances. She won MVP honors in 2020 and led the team to a runner-up finish in the CIAA Championship. Off the court, Shawnkia has shared her expertise by coaching at Harford Community College Basketball Camps and at clinics hosted by her alma mater Bowie State University.
