BALTIMORE, Md. – Sara Mitchell scored a game-high 37 points, 20 in the second half, to lead the Globe Institute of Technology women's basketball team to a 73-40 win over Baltimore City Community College on Friday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.
The game was close in the opening period with the Lady Panthers (0-5) trailing by just eight points at halftime. But GIT (1-3) turned up the defense and limited BCCC to just 12 second-half points. For the game, the Lady Panthers committed 34 turnovers.
Tanequa Alicea also scored in double figures for GIT, ending the night with 11 points.
Daryl Faulkner (Baltimore, Md./Edmonson-Westside HS) led BCCC with 19 points. Shray Roberts (Baltimore, Md./ Edmonson-Westside HS) and Keyontay Dunaway (Baltimore, Md./Carver HS) each grabbed seven rebounds.
The Lady Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Northern Virginia Community College at 3 p.m.
