TCC Completes Season Sweep of BCCC Women with 67-33 Win

BALTIMORE, Md.
– Desiree Johnson scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Tidewater Community College women's basketball team to a 67-33 win over Baltimore City Community College in the Charm City Classic on Saturday afternoon at the BCCC P.E. Center. TCC (2-4) earned the season sweep of BCCC (0-12) with the win after defeating the Lady Panthers 66-36 earlier this season at the Patrick Henry CC Tournament.

Johnson added nine rebounds, eight steals, five assists and two blocks in 35 minutes. Allison Black and Kiana Carpenter also scored in double figures with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

TCC broke a 4-all tie with a free throw by De'Shauna Purnell with 16:50 left in the first half and led for the rest of the game.

Daryl Faulkner (Baltimore, Md./Edmonson-Westside HS) led BCCC with 13 points while Sarah Hunt-FoFana (Bronx, N.Y.) had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Faulkner, Sheena Belton (Baltimore, Md./ Edmonson-Westside HS) and Keyontay Dunaway(Baltimore, Md./Carver HS) each grabbed eight rebounds.  

The Lady Panthers take on Northern Virginia CC at 4 p.m. in the final day of the Charm City Classic on Sunday. The two teams met on November 20 with NOVA winning 48-33.

In earlier Charm City Classic action, Frederick CC rallied to beat Potomac State College 78-73 on Saturday afternoon.
