BALTIMORE, Md. – Ashleigh Jones had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds and Ashley Molock scored 20 points to lead the Chesapeake College women's basketball team to an 88-39 win over Baltimore City Community College on Wednesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.
Chesapeake improved to 4-5 overall and 3-0 in the Maryland JUCO Conference with the win, while BCCC fell to 0-8, 0-2.
The game was very close in the first half with six ties and two lead changes in the first 14 minutes. A jumper by Jones with 5:52 left in the opening period put Chesapeake up 21-19. The Skipjacks led by eight with 2:34 left in the first half, but the Lady Panthers cut the lead to five, 29-24, to go into halftime.
Chesapeake came out hot in the second half and outscored BCCC 22-0 over in the first 5:19 of the second half. Molock contributed 12 points during that run. The Lady Panthers managed just 15 points for the second half.
Deja Acree also scored in double figures for Chesapeake tallying 17 points. She added seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Sarah Hunt-FoFana (Bronx, N.Y./Kennedy HS) led BCCC with 11 points and three assists.
The Lady Panther host Cecil College at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
