HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Alessandra Flores scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor to lead the Hagerstown Community College women's basketball to a 78-41 Maryland JUCO Conference win over Baltimore City Community College on Saturday night at the ARC Center. Flores went 6-of-8 from the free-throw line and had five rebounds, five steals and four assists in 22 minutes.
The game started out on a good note for the Lady Panthers. Jasmine Adams (Baltimore, Md.) put BCCC (0-20, 0-8 MD JUCO) on the board first with a jumper with 18:21 left in the first half. Buckets by Sarah Hunt-FoFana (Bronx, N.Y.) and Tierra McCormick (Washington, D.C./Coolidge HS) gave BCCC a 6-0 lead.
Hagerstown (13-3, 6-2 MD JUCO) did not score until the 16:57 mark when Tashia Caldwell hit a layup.
BCCC led by as many as eight points (12-4) early on and held the lead until Jasmine Reynolds scored on a layup with 8:44 left in the first half to put the Lady Hawks up 18-17. Hagerstown outscored BCCC 16-5 the rest of the way to take a 34-21 lead into the break.
The Lady Hawks dominated the second half and limited the Lady Panthers to just 20 points while outrebounding them 35-17. For the game, Hagerstown outrebounded BCCC 68-42.
Caldwell finished with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Reynolds scored 11 points and pulled down eight boards. Turquoia Johnson grabbed a game-high-tying 13 rebounds and Yolanda Pinkcett had 11 rebounds.
Hunt-Fofana led BCCC with 13 points. Brittany Dean (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds and McCormick had 13 rebounds.
BCCC continues its road swing with a 5:30 p.m. contest at Howard Community College on Wednesday.
