BALTIMORE, Md. – Ashley Farmer scored a game-high 20 points to lead the College of Southern Maryland women's basketball team to a 60-46 win over Baltimore City Community College on Wednesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.
Farmer got CSM (7-12, 3-7 MD JUCO) on the board first with a layup with 19:14 left in the first half. BCCC (0-23, 0-11) answered three minutes later with a jumper by Jasmine Adams (Baltimore, Md./Thurgood Marshall HS) to tie the game at 2-all.
The Lady Panthers were down 10, 22-12, with four minutes left in the opening period, but went on a 9-0 run to get within one. The Lady Hawks went into halftime with a 27-21 lead.
Things were close for most of the second half until a jumper by Amber Ferguson gave CSM a 10-point lead, 43-33, with 9:46 left in the game. The Lady Hawks extended their lead to 16 before finally winning by a 13-point margin.
Teshaun Green added 13 points for CSM, while Breanna Barnes grabbed 15 rebounds.
Sarah Hunt-FoFana (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Lady Panthers with 13 points and a game-high six steals. Brittany Dean (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds and Aissata Dicko (Bamako, Mali) also had 12 boards.
The Lady Panthers return to action on Friday when they host ASA at 7 p.m.
