Oliver, Chesapeake College Run Past BCCC Women 76-45

WYE MILLS, Md. – Shantrel Oliver scored a game-high 26 points in 39 minutes to help the Chesapeake College women's basketball team to a 76-45 MD JUCO win over Baltimore City Community College on Friday night at the Chesapeake College Gym.

Chesapeake improved to 13-3 overall and 7-3 in conference play, while the Lady Panthers fell to 6-14, 3-5.

The Skipjacks maintained a slight lead for most of the first half and took at 31-22 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Chesapeake got focused on offense and defense and went on a 35-17 run to start the period, capped by a 3-pointer by Emon Heath with 6:23 left in the game. The Lady Panthers managed just six more points the rest of the game.

Deja Acree had 12 points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists for Chesapeake. Ashleigh Jones added 11 points and 11 boards and Rose Smith had seven points and 10 rebounds.

Shamera O'Neal (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) led BCCC with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Lady Panthers return to the BCCC P.E. Center on Wednesday when they host Allegany College of Maryland at 5 p.m.
