BEL AIR, Md. – Tiffany Taylor scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Harford Community College women's basketball team to a 68-57 win over Baltimore City Community College on Wednesday night at the Susquehanna Center. Taylor played all 40 minutes and was 9-of-27 from the field, including 4-of-13 from 3-point range.
The game was close for most of the first half. A jumper by
Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown HS) tied the game at 12-all with 10:12 left in the opening period. Harford then went on an 8-0 run to break the game open and took a 10-point lead, 36-26, into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Panthers (1-6, 1-2 MD JUCO) got within nine, 39-30, after another bucket by Scott, but could get no closer for the remainder of the game.
Capree Garner also played the entire game for Harford and finished with 18 points, five steals and three rebounds. Shelby Key tallied 10 points and five boards, while Kebrina Johnson grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.
Tashay Smith (Baltimore, Md./Overlea HS) led BCCC with team-highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Scott had 11 points and a game-high four blocks. Both
Cindy Kolade (Ivory Coast/Western) and
Tiara France (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg HS) had eight points.
The Lady Panthers have little time to rest as they travel to Dundalk, Md. in Friday for an 8 p.m. matchup against CCBC-Dundalk.
