Despite Late Rally, Lady Panthers Fall to CCBC-Dundalk 66-60

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit to get within three points of CCBC-Dundalk, but ended up losing 66-60 on Wednesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center. The Lady Lions improved to 1-1 with the win, while the Lady Panthers fell to 0-3 on the season.
 
BCCC got on the board first after a layup by Meleisea Alston (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor HS) with 19:33 left in the first half. The Lady Panthers extended their lead to 10, 18-8, after a three-point play by Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown HS) at the 9:39 mark.
 
Dundalk went on a 20-11 run to end the period, but BCCC took a 29-28 lead into halftime.
 
Tiffany Evans hit a 3-pointer to start the second half, putting Dundalk up 31-29, and giving the Lady Lions a lead they would hang on to for the remainder of the game. BCCC got within three, 63-60, after a trey by Tashay Smith (Baltimore, Md./Overlea HS) but the Lady Lions went 3-for-4 at the free throw line to put the game out of reach.
 
Four of Dundalk's five starters scored in double figures for the game. Evans led the way with 16 points and added eight rebounds. TroiQuay Malloy finished with 14 points and four rebounds, while Chelsea Eldridge had 12 points and nine boards. Carissa Williams posted a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Smith led the Lady Panthers with 22 points and contributed seven rebounds and four steals. Scott posted 20 points after going 4-of-18 from the field and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe and recorded game-highs of 16 rebounds and two blocks. Cindy Kolade (Ivory Coast/Western) also had seven rebounds to go with her three points and one block.
 
The Lady Panthers are off until next Friday when they take on Clinton College at 5:30 p.m. in the Atlanta Metro Classic in Atlanta, Ga.
