Lady Panthers Fall 80-67 to Cecil College

BALTIMORE, Md
. – Jasmine Moore scored 25 points and teammate Christina Talbert dropped 24 points to help the Cecil College women's basketball team to an 80-67 win over Baltimore City Community College on Wednesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.
 
The game was close for the entire first half. BCCC (1-8, 1-4 MD JUCO) led early on after a 3-pointer by Tiara France (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg HS) gave the Lady Panthers an 18-14 lead with 8:37 left in the first half. But a quick 10-0 run by Cecil (8-2, 4-1) gave the Lady Seahawks a 24-18 advantage. BCCC closed the gap, but still went into halftime down by four, 39-35.
 
The Lady Panthers tied things up at 39-all early in the second half after back-to-back shots by Tashay Smith (Baltimore, Md./Overlea HS). There were three more ties over the next five minutes. Cecil pulled ahead for good on a layup by Jayde Duncan with 12:27 left in the game to put her team up 56-54.
 
The Lady Panthers found themselves down by eight, 62-54, but got within three, 64-61, after a trey by Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown HS) at the 7:01 mark. Cecil turned up the offense and ended the game on a 16-6 run to seal the win.
 
For Cecil, both Moore and Talbert tallied six assists and had four and seven rebounds, respectively. Duncan finished with 13 points and nine boards, while Desiree Foye had 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
 
Scott had a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds and added two blocks. Smith contributed 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Cindy Kolade (Ivory Coast/Western HS) grabbed 11 boards to go with her five points.
 
BCCC hosts the annual Charm City Classic this weekend. Games are at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tournament participants include Chesapeake College, Frederick CC, Globe Institute of Technology, Harcum College, Potomac State College of WVU and host BCCC.
