Lady Panthers Rout Potomac State 82-60 in Day 1 of Charm City Classic

BALTIMORE, Md. – Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown HS) dropped a career-high 30 points and grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds to lead the Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team to an 82-60 victory over Potomac State College of WVU on the opening night of the 2012 BCCC Charm City Classic. Scott went 14-of-21 from the field (66.7 percent) and blocked two shots in 35 minutes.
 
PSC (1-7) got on the board first on a jumper by Morgan Wright 19:33 left in the first half. BCCC (2-8) answered on the other end with a jumper by Tashay Smith (Baltimore, Md./Overlea HS) to tie the game at 2-all.
 
Scott broke an 11-all tie with jumper at the 14:47 mark to put the Lady Panthers up 13-11 and give them a lead they held on to for the rest of the game.
 
BCCC opened up a 13-point lead, 31-18, after another bucket by Smith with 9:06 left in the half. The Lady Panthers barely edged out the Lady Catamounts 18-14 in scoring over the last nine minutes of the opening half, but BCCC still took a commanding 49-32 lead into the break.
 
It was all BCCC in the second half as the Lady Panthers outscored PSC 33-28, won the rebounding battle 26-20, and forced 13 Lady Catamount turnovers.
 
For the game, BCCC shot 41 percent (34-of-83) from the field, grabbed a season-high 64 rebounds and had 17 steals. PSC went 23-of-70 from the floor (32.9 percent) and had 48 rebounds and six steals. The Lady Panthers forced 24 Lady Catamount turnovers while only committing 18.
 
Wright led PSC with 12 points and added seven boards. Lindsey Miller and Rachel Waiboga each tallied 10 points and Waiboga a team-high 10 rebounds.
 
Smith recorded her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Tiara France (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg HS) and Sheborah Miller (Baltimore, Md./Coppin Acedemy) had 13 and 11 points, respectively, and each grabbed five boards.
 
Jamira Wilson (Baltimore, Md./Southside Academy) had eight rebounds off the bench.
 
The Lady Panthers take on Harcum College at 4 p.m. PSC takes on Chesapeake College at 12 p.m. and Globe Institute of Technology and Frederick Community College play at 2 p.m.
