BALTIMORE, Md. – Sophomore Night honoree
Senteria Renwicks (Baltimore, Md./Landsdowne HS) scored a game-high 17 points and had 11 rebounds and teammate
TaShay Smith (Baltimore, Md./Overlea HS) added 16 points and 13 rebounds off the bench to lead the Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team to a 58-52 win over Harford Community College on Tuesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.
Harford (10-16, 4-9 MD JUCO) started the game on a 10-0 run. BCCC (8-18, 5-8 MDJUCO) did not get on the board until Smith hit a jumper with 12:53 left in the first half. The Lady Panthers then scored nine unanswered points to go up 11-10 after a bucket by Keyontay Dunaway (Baltimore, Md./Carver HS) at the 8:32 mark.
The Lady Owls tied the game at 11-all after one of two free throws by Kourtney Orr with 5:52 left in the first half. Harford went into halftime with a 23-17 lead.
Harford led for most of the second half until Dunaway hit a 3-pointer with 8:33 left in the game to give the Lady Panthers a 42-40 lead. But the Lady Owls rallied and tied the game at 46-all when Rachel Cocoros hit a jumper with 5:51 left.
But BCCC quickly opened up a five-point lead and ended up winning by six points.
Alannah Galloway led Harford with 14 points and added 10 rebounds. Cocoros and Bree Lewis each had 11 points, while Orr had 14 rebounds and Kebrina Johnshon grabbed 12.
Dunaway had 10 points and eight rebounds for BCCC.
The Lady Panthers are off until next Tuesday when they play in the first round of the MD JUCO Tournament. Seedings will be released on Sunday, Feb. 12.
