Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown HS) had a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, both team-highs, to lead the Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team to a 66-63 win over Frederick Community College at the Cougar Dome on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Panthers (6-11, 4-4 MD JUCO) took their first lead of the game (19-18) on a layup by
Tashay Smith (Baltimore, Md./Overlea HS) with 8:45 left in the first half. BCCC went into halftime up by four points, 32-28.
Things remained close in the second half and Frederick (8-7, 3-3) gained a one-point advantage (51-50) after a pair of free throws by Shakena Williams with 9:42 left in the game. BCCC took a momentary lead when
Cindy Kolade (Ivory Coast/Western) hit a layup with 2:21 left to put her team up 60-58. But Jourdan Stanhope tied things up at 60-all 38 seconds later with a layup of her own. The Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Cougars 6-3 the rest of the way for the win.
Williams led Frederick with a game-high 26 points and added seven rebounds and four assists. Stanhope finished with 17 points and two rebounds. Jasmine Walker had a team-high 10 rebounds.
For BCCC, Smith was the only other Lady Panther to score in double figures. She had 15 points, seven rebounds, six steals, five assists and one block.
BCCC hosts Prince George's CC at 5 p.m. on Monday.
