BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team defeated CCBC-Dundalk on Tuesday night 72-58 in the P.E. Center. The win ended a six-game losing streak to the Dundalk Lady Lions.
The Lady Lions (3-2, 0-1 MDJUCO) scored the first four points of the game, but the Lady Panthers (3-3, 1-0 MDJUCO) roared back scoring 11 straight points (11-4), taking the lead and never looking back.
BCCC, led by as many as 15 points with a three-pointer by Nikita Brady (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) with 8:04 in the first half. BCCC weathered a brief run by Dundalk to take a 36-27 lead going into the half.
In the second half, the Lady Lions got within four points (38-34) with 15:48 in the second half. The Lady Panthers increased the lead to 10 (48-38), putting together a 10-4 run in the process. At the 7:10 mark, the Lady Panthers took the largest lead of the night at 16 (62-46), on a lay-up by Asia Brittingham (Baltimore, Md./Friendship Academy).
The Lady Lions were led in scoring by Crystal Crawford with 17 points. Trana' Ford finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and five steals and Traonna Thomas had a game-high 10 steals, to go along with seven points and six points.
For BCCC, She'cquan Bailey (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill HS) had a game-high 18 points while adding nine boards, nine steals and five assists. Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and collected two blocks in the game.
The Lady Panthers will be on the road for a 7 p.m. game against Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, Md. on Friday, November 22, 2013.
