WYE MILLS, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team fell to the undefeated Chesapeake College on Friday night 75-59. It was the first conference loss for the Lady Panthers (3-4, 1-1 MDJUCO), on the season.
The Lady Panthers trailed by six points (30-24) at the half, as they struggled to get in a groove offensively.
The Lady Skip Jacks (10-0, 3-0 MDJUCO), jump out to a 12-2 (42-26) run to start the second half. The Lady Panthers valiantly fought back to cut the lead to three (46-43), with 9:51 to go in the game.
Chesapeake would end the game on a 29-16 run to secure the victory.
For the Lady Skip Jacks, Daria Simmons had a game-high 19 points and Domonique Hagins finished with 16 points and seven assists.
Tamyra Laws had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Ashley Pegram had 13 points, eight boards, four assists and three blocks.
Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) recorded her third double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Tache Smothers (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim HS) came off the bench with seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Lady Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday evening at 5 p.m. against Cecil College at the P.E. Center.
General admission is $5, $2 for BCPS, and free admissions for faculty and students with a valid I.D.
