Huge Second Half Gives Lady Panthers Their Fifth Win in a Row

Cierra Tourville was the only double-digit scorer with 10 points off the bench.

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team defeated Broward College 52-37 on Thursday night, at the George E. Mayer Gymnasium. The Lady Panthers (8-4) are on a five game winning streak.
 
The Lady Panthers jumped out to an 8-2 lead before the Lady Seahawks went in front 9-8, on a jump shot by Sade Tutson with 13:06 in the opening half. The Lady Panthers fought back to regain the lead shortly (12-11) on a jumper by Shamera O'Neal (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) at the 6:27 mark.
 
Broward College responded with 12-5 run to end the half and take a 23-17 lead at the break.
 
BCCC came out in the second half with an 8-2 run to tie the game up at 25 apiece with 17:01 remaining in the game. After a free-throw by Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md./Carver Vo-Tech), BCCC took the lead and never looked back.
 
The Lady Panthers defensive intensity turned up a notch and held the Lady Seahawks to 14 points on 13% shooting in the second half. The Lady Panthers outrebounded the Lady Seahawks 51-40.
 
The Lady Seahawks were led in scoring by Tutson with 21 points.   
 
For the Lady Panthers, Cierra Tourville (Manhattan, N.Y./Joppatowne HS) had a season-high 10 points off the bench to give the team a spark and Asia Brittingham (Baltimore, Md./Friendship Academy) had a team-high 11 rebounds.
 
The Lady Panthers will return to action on Saturday, January 4th, as they host Allegany College of Maryland. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
General admissions will be $5.00, $2.00 for BCPS and free admission for faculty and students with a valid I.D.
