BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team defeated Anne Arundel Community College 92-40, on Wednesday night at the P.E. Center. The Lady Panthers have scored 90 points or more in back-to-back wins for the first time in four years.
BCCC (5-4, 3-1 MDJUCO), took an early 11-2 lead before Anne Arundel CC would score nine straight points to tie the game at 11-11, with 11:08 in the first half. For the remainder of the half, BCCC outscored Anne Arundel 35-12.
The Lady Panthers led by 23 points at the break 46-23.
The Lady Pioneers (2-7, 0-2 MDJUCO), scored the first four points in the second half, but the Lady Panthers quickly responded to make sure the momentum did not slip away from them going on an 8-0 run, increasing the lead to 54-27.
The Lady Panthers never trailed in the game outrebounded the Lady Pioneers 50-22, forced 42 turnovers and had 32 assists in the game. The Lady Panthers also shot 40-of-85 (47%), while holding Anne Arundel to (28%) shooting on 14-of-47.
Anne Arundel's leading scorer was Lindsay Williams with 19 points and adding seven rebounds.
For the Lady Panthers,
Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) had 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block.
Shamera O'Neal (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) finished with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Nikita Brady (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) scored 12 points and had six rebounds, three assists and two steals and
Jamia Lawson (Baltimore, Md./Coppin Academy)had 10 points and a game-high three blocks.
Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md./Carver Vo-Tech) had a game-high nine rebounds with seven being offensive rebounds to go along with six points.
She'cquan Bailey (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill High School) and
Aneja Kemp (Norfolk, Va./Maury HS) combined for 16 assists, 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals.
The Lady Panthers will host the Charm City Classic on Saturday December 7
th and Sunday December 8th. The participating teams are: Anne Arundel CC, Frederick CC and Harcum College.
General admissions will be $5, $2 for BCPS and free admissions for all faculty and students with a valid school I.D.
