BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team defeated Anne Arundel Community College 90-35, on Saturday afternoon at the P.E. Center in the Charm City Classic. Once again, the Lady Panthers pesky defense has held opponents under 60 points or less in three straight games.
The two teams who just played just three days ago were back at it again. Anne Arundel (2-8), tied the game at 6 all with 14:04 in the first half before BCCC turned up the defensive pressure. BCCC forced 20 turnovers in the half on their way to allowing Anne Arundel to only 13 points on 19 percent shooting.
The Lady Panthers (6-4), took a commanding 30-13 lead at the half.
The second half was more the same as the Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Pioneers 60-22 points in the second half shooting a blistering 65 percent from the field.
BCCC never trailed in the game and held Anne Arundel to only 10 made field goals, forced 51 turnovers and had 28 steals all team-highs for the season.
Anne Arundel's leading scorer was Sarah Stokes with 12 points.
For the Lady Panthers,
Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) went a perfect 9-of-9 from the field and finished 20 points for the third straight game
Asia Brittingham (Baltimore, Md./Friendship Academy) lead the way for the reserves with 15 points and seven rebounds and
Nikita Brady (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) scored 12 points and had eight steals, six rebounds and three assists.
The backcourt of
She'cquan Bailey (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill High School) and
Aneja Kemp (Norfolk, Va./Maury HS) combined for 15 points, 15 assists, six rebounds and five steals.
Shamera O'Neal (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) finished with 11 points, four boards and two steals.
The games on Sunday Frederick CC vs. Anne Arundel CC and Harcum College vs. Baltimore City CC were canceled due to inclement weather.
The Lady Panthers will be on the road for the next two games in Florida on December 17
th and 19
th , as they face Miami-Dade College and Broward College.
