Lady Panthers Pull Away Late in 61-47 win over Howard Community College

COLUMBIA, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team defeated Howard Community College 61-47, in a very hostile environment at the Athletic and Fitness Center on Saturday afternoon. The win extended the Lady Panthers eight-game winning streak, who are now 11-4, 5-1 MD JUCO.
 
The Lady Panthers trailed by six nearly mid-way in the first half, 16-10, at the 11:12 mark. The Lady Panthers tied the game up at 27 before taking a three point lead going into the half as Cierra Tourville (Manhattan, N.Y./Joppatowne HS) and Jamia Lawson (Baltimore, Md./Coppin Academy) scored the last eight points.
 
BCCC led at the break 31-28.
 
The Lady Panthers did not trail in the second half, holding the Lady Dragons (4-11), to 19 points in the half. The Lady Panthers held the Lady Dragons to 7-of-26 shooting (27.0%) and outrebounded them 28-17 in route to pulling away late in the game to seal the win.
 
The Lady Oaks were led in scoring by Tyler Virgil with a game-high 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Lennnee' Kimbell finished the game with 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
 
For the Lady Panthers, Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./N. Hagerstown HS) had 18 points and nine boards.
 
Aneja Kemp (Norfolk, Va./Maury HS) scored 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Tourville finished the game with 12 points and eight rebounds

Jamia Lawson (Baltimore, Md./Coppin Academy) had a season-high 14 rebounds to go alongside seven points and Tache Smothers (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) was near another triple-double with nine assists, eight rebounds, and five steals.

 The Lady Panthers will return to the P.E. Center on Wednesday, January 15th, as they face the College of Southern Maryland at 5:30 p.m.
