FREDERICK, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team 10-game winning streak ended on Saturday evening at the Cougar Dome, as Frederick Community College won 78-75.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 7-0 lead. The Lady Panthers lead for the first 10:00 of the game before the Lady Cougars took a one point lead (21-20), at the 9:35 mark.
Frederick (12-7), led by as many as eight (34-26), with 3:51 left in the first half before BCCC used a 13-5 run to cut the deficit to one (40-39), before going into intermission.
In the second half, the lead went back and forth before the Lady Cougars regained command and took a seven point lead with 6:26 remaining in the game. The Lady Panthers fought back and took a late one point lead (75-74) with 27 seconds left.
Frederick went 4-of-4 from the free-throw for the remainder of the game to seal the win.
The Lady Cougars were led in scoring by Kendeedra Morgan and Destinee Jernigan with 20 points. Jernigan also had seven rebounds and four assists.
Alyssa Smith-Henry had 12 points and Precious Shirk finished with 10 points and nine assists.
Nikita Brady (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) led the Lady Panthers with 18 points, five rebounds, and four steals off the bench.
She'cquan Bailey (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill HS) had 12 points, eight assists, seven boards and four steals and
Aneja Kemp (Norfolk, Va./Maury HS) ended the game with 12 points and three steals.
The Lady Panthers will host Montgomery College on Wednesday January, 29
th at 5:30 p.m.
