BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team fell in overtime to Montgomery College 59-81 on Wednesday night in the P.E. Center. BCCC have now lost two out of their last three games and currently sit at the number four spot in the conference.
The Lady Panthers (14-6) failed to convert on two shots in the closing seconds of regulation and were held to only three points in extra period.
Both teams battled early in the opening minutes of the game before BCCC took control of the game. BCCC went up by 14 points (38-24) late in the first half before taking a 38-25 lead into the half.
The Lady Panthers led for most of the second half before the Lady Raptors (15-9) rallied back to tie the score at 55 apiece with 5:58 remaining in the game. Both teams traded basket for basket forcing the game to go into overtime.
In the extra five minute session, Montgomery outscored BCCC 15-3 going 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.
For the Lady Raptors, Jerbria Smith posted a double-double with 21 points and 10 steals going along with seven assists and six rebounds and Kiana Daley had 18 points and seven boards.
Angelica Ceccone ended the game with a double-double of her own with 15 points and 14 rebounds while Meghann Tilghman had 15 points and five rebounds.
Nicole Cunningham also had a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points along with four blocks.
For the Lady Panthers,
Nikita Brady (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) scored a team-high 12 points off the bench and
Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown HS) posted her sixth double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Jamia Lawson (Baltimore, Md./Coppin Academy) and
Shamera O'Neal (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern HS) combined for 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Panthers travel to Largo, Md. on Friday January, 31
st for a 5 p.m. game against Prince George's Community College.
