Lady Panthers Stay Unblemished in MD JUCO with 96-61 Win Over Lady Lakers

BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team defeated the Lady Lakers of Garrett College on Friday night in the P.E. Center 96-61. BCCC remains perfect in conference play moving to 4-0 and 10-7 overall.
 
The Lady Panthers have matched their longest win streak of the season at four.
 
The Lady Panthers raced out to a 29-2 lead on the Lady Lakers which set the tone for the rest of the game.
 
Natasha Roy (Gambrills, Md./Arundel HS) was on fire from three-point range going 3-of-3 in the opening quarter of play. The Lady Panthers shot 11-of-14 (78.6 percent) from the field and held the Lady Lakers to 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) and forced 13 turnovers in the first 10 minutes.
 
The Lady Panthers went into the break with a 55-33 lead.
 
The Lady Panthers would not trail at any point in the game and finished the game off strong holding the Lady Lakers to another eight point quarter.
 
The Lady Panthers defense held the Lady Lakers to 21-of-65 shooting (32.3 percent) and caused 29 turnovers.
 
The Lady Panthers once again had an efficient offensive performance, shooting over 50 percent from the field and over 40 percent from behind the arc. Also, the Lady Panthers broke their record as a team with 27 assists on the night.
 
The Lady Panthers scored 56 points in the paint and scored 33 points off of turnovers.
 
For the Lady Lakers Bria Coleman had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Datoria Higgins had 11 points.
 
The Lady Panthers, She'cquan Bailey (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill HS) led all scorers with 28 points while dishing out 11 assists, four rebounds and four steals.  
 
Roy finished the game with 23 points and went 5-of-7 from three-point line, six rebounds and four assists and LaShay Stackhouse (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) ended the game with 19 points and four rebounds.
 
 
Courtney Crawford (Lanham, Md./Archbishop Carroll HS) had a game-high of 14 rebounds to go with eight points and three steals.
 
Alexis Wade (Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh HS) almost finished with a triple-double as she ended the game with eight assists, eight rebounds and seven points.
 
The Lady Panthers host Harrisburg Area Community College on Monday January 11th at 6 p.m. in the P.E. Center.
 
General admission will be $5, $2 for BCPS and free admission for BCCC faculty, staff and students with valid I.D.
