Box Score BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team fell to their Division I rival Harford Community College 75-58 on Wednesday night in the P.E. Center.
The game was a battle of the two undefeated teams in the conference and with a lack luster performance in the third quarter. The Lady Panthers experienced a "whatever could go wrong pretty much did go wrong" situation in the pivotal quarter.
The first half was very competitive as imagined with both team's fans showing support and filling the stands. At the end of the first quarter the Lady Fighting Owls took a 21-17 lead behind Darra Walkers' 10 points as she went a perfect 4-of-4 from the field including 2-of-2 from behind the arc.
In the second quarter the Lady Panthers defense got it together and made the Lady Fighting Owls uncomfortable. The Lady Panthers held their opponent to only 27.8 percent shooting from the field as they were able to cut the lead down to one at the break trailing 35-34.
The third quarter was the breaking point as Harford outscored BCCC 28-13 shooting 55 percent and only turning the ball over twice which made it that more challenging for BCCC. BCCC shot 35.7 percent from the field had seven turnovers and only six rebounds in the critical quarter.
To top it off the Lady Panthers star guard
She'cquan Bailey (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill HS) went down in the waning seconds of the third quarter with the score 63-47 in favor of the Lady Fighting Owls.
The Lady Fighting Owls were led by Mia Fitts who scored a game-high 23 points. Janessa Fauntroy recorded her first double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds and Darra Walker finished the game with 12 points. Dasia Harris had a game-high 11 assists and Domonique Walker pulled down 11 rebounds.
