The Panthers traveled up Interstate 95 to take on the natonally ranked Harcum Bears. This was the second game this season between the two teams and unfortunately for the Panthers, the result was prety much the same. The Bears of Harcum were to tall and to fast for the Panthers on the day. Rebounds were virtually impossible for the Panthers which gave them one shot at the basket most of the game. They struggled to get on the scoreboard early, as Harcum blocked anything that came into the paint and the shots from behind the 3 point line were not falling for the Panthers. At the half-way point of the first half the team was done by double figures as it ended with the score 31-52.
The second half the Panthers gave a great effort and made the game exciting to watch. The team was lead by Freshmen
Jason Ogbolu who scored a season high 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds. This was his first double-double and hopefully a breakout game for him moving forward. Harcum came into the game undefeated on the season and ranked 23 nationally. They were relentless on the boards and showed their depth when their bench players came in and started draining 3 pointers from every side of the arch. The Panthers kept attacking and seem to approach the game as a learning experience. They tried different defensive schemes and werent afraid to challenge the Harcum Bear's 7'0 foot center or their 6' 9" forwards. The final score was 77-111.
This may be one of those games that shows the team which is made up of mostly Freshmen, what it takes to get to the next level. The teams leading scorer Sophomore
Carson Smith was in double figures, knocking down 16 points on the night. He along with fellow Sophomore
David Harris attacked the basket and made the Bears of Harcum aware of the talent that BCCC has. Another great performance came from Freshmen
Jamal Lee. He demonstrated his versatility on offense with flashes to the basket and a nifty mid-range jumper, contributing 13 points for the Panthers.
The team will get a much needed rest over the next few days and will hopefully have the services of Freshmen
Jo-Nathan Kelly. He is the teams second leading scorer and will be needed when the Panthers take on the Dragons of Howard Community College Wedesday, February 1st at the PE Center. Game time is 5:00 pm.
