Box Score LA PLATA, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team bounced back after suffering their first loss of the season with a win versus College of Southern Maryland 61-42 on Tuesday night.
Tache Smothers (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim HS) recorded her first double-double of the season in the win with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go with five steals and four assists.
The Lady Panthers (3-1, 2-0 MDJUCO) jumped out to an 11-0 lead before the Lady Hawks were able to make a shot from the field. The run was sparked mainly by sophomores
Michelle Wright (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) and Smothers.
The Lady Panthers led by as many as 23 points in the first 20:00 of play and held a 35-14 lead at the break.
In the second half the Lady Panthers kept the momentum and control of the game as they were able to breeze through the rest of the game for the victory.
The Lady Hawks leading scorer was Amber Smith with a game-high 14 points off the bench who also grabbed seven rebounds three blocks and three steals.
Amia Howard (Baltimore, Md./Benjamin Franklin HS) had a team-high 13 points to go along with six boards, four assists, four blocks and four steals.
Freshmen
Alexis Wade (Raleigh, NC/Southeast Raleigh HS) had nine steals and seven points and fellow freshmen
Jada Hatcher (Baltimore, Md./MATHS HS) finished with 11 points going 3-of-6 from behind the arc.
Wright ended the game with eight points, four rebounds and four steals.
The Lady Panthers will be home for a Saturday, November 22nd tip-off against Howard Community College at 1 p.m.
