Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. –
Amia Howard (Baltimore, Md./Benjamin Franklin HS) of the Baltimore City Community College women's basketball team had a career night with 28 points and 22 rebounds in the win over Howard Community College, 107-63 on Saturday afternoon in the P.E. Center.
The Lady Panthers fell behind early in trailing 10-2 in the opening four minutes of the game. The Lady Panthers used a 15-5 run capped off by a
Jada Hatcher (Baltimore, Md./MATHS HS) three pointer with 9:29 remaining before the half back. The Lady Panthers took a 17-15 lead and never looked backed.
BCCC led by as many as 16 points in the first half as they took a 48-32 lead at the break.
In the game the Lady Panthers (4-1, 3-0 MDJUCO) benched scored 43 points, had 25 steals, forced 35 turnovers and outrebounded the Lady Dragons 70-35. The Lady
Panthers also had 54 points in the paint, scored 48 points off of turnovers and had 37 second chance points.
The Lady Dragons had two players to score in double digits, Patrice Jones had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, both team-highs and Elisabeth Parks recorded 15 points, a game-high seven blocks and five rebounds.
For the Lady Panthers,
Michelle Wright (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 boards.
Tache Smothers (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim HS) finished with 15 points, five assists, five steals and three rebounds and
Jasmine Townes (Newark, N.J./West Side HS) scored 13 points.
Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md./Carver Vo-Tech) ended with 10 points while
Asia Brittingham (Baltimore, Md./Friendship Academy) chipped in with 10 rebounds and eight points.
Howard also had five steals and four blocks and Hatcher scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds.
The Lady Panthers will be in action again on Sunday, November 23 at 2 p.m. against LaGuardia Community College at home in the P.E. Center.
