The women's volleyball season has come to an end. The Lady Panthers ended their inaugural campaign with a loss to Howard Community College. The team finished the season without a win but a victory in the sense that they came together and competed as a team. Coach Thompson and the Lady Panthers were the first women's volleyball team to represent BCCC since the 2015-2016 season. They faced well established teams that have been competing for years and unfortunately did not have the depth of talent most of them had. The programs the Panthers faced included teams that have established pipelines of new but experienced recruits each year. In the sport of volleyball student athletes who want to compete beyond high-school are generally those who have experience playing Club Sports. The Club Sports system in the United States is deep with talent and the competition is fierce from the age of 12 up to 18. According to Dr. Pope, Director of Athletics, "We are looking to attract student athletes who have the Club experience and want to take their games to a higher level". The level of competition in Maryland is extremely high. There are a number of volleyball clubs in the area that compete throughout the year. Membership in those clubs are expensive and requires a commitment from student athletes and their parents. In spite of this disadvantage, the Lady Panthers fought valiantly throughout the season. More importantly they had a good learning experience. They came together as a team and represented themselves and BCCC with honor.
