BCCC Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees
Dr. Ann Ritter’s extensive playing and officiating experience in field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse led the late Dr. Steve Hokuf to give her a full-time position in the Physical Education Department at the Community College of Baltimore (CCB) in 1968.
Ritter taught volleyball, aerobics, and basketball and was the head coach of the women’s lacrosse team. She made a huge impact in the Physical Education Department because she played all three sports at the high school, college, and club levels and had officiated each sport. Ritter split time teaching in the English and Physical Education Departments between 1975 and 1978 at the Liberty and Harbor campuses.
In 1978, Ritter moved to the English Department permanently and has been there ever since. She served as the President of the Faculty Senate from 1994-2008 and was the Reading Coordinator from 1996-2009. Ritter earned her master’s of education and doctorate in Reading, Learning, Disabilities, and Counseling from Johns Hopkins University.
