Norma Jean Evans, formerly Norma “Mean Jean” Knight, attended the Community College of Baltimore from 1979-81. In her second year on the women’s basketball team, Evans was named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American. She transferred to Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va. where her athletic success continued. Evans earned All-American honors in both of her years at NSU and still holds several career, singleseason, and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament records.

Evans has been inducted into the Baltimore Neighborhood Basketball League Hall of Fame (1983), the CIAA Hall of Fame (1999) and the NSU Athletic Foundation Sports Hall of Fame (2009). She also served as the Chaplain for the Detroit Shock of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). A published author and successful entrepreneur, Evans currently serves as the Director of Administrative Services at Cranbrook Educational Community in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

She and her husband Bill are the founders of BeNe International (business coaching and technology services) and Brobill’s Gourmet Foods.
